Storied Collection opens three historic properties to public

UK & Ireland: Storied Collection, a collection of historic castles and estates across the UK and Ireland, has added three new historic properties to its portfolio and made them open to the public for accommodation for the first time.

Dabton House in Scotland, Middleton Castle in Norfolk and Mapperton in Dorset complement Storied Collection’s current portfolio of ten properties, each offering their own rich history, period charm and unique tales to tell.

The three new additions are opening to the public for the first time and support the company’s mission to offer exclusive experiences and unique heritage stays.

Situated on the Queensberry Estate in Dumfriesshire, Scotland, Dabton House is a Georgian country house originally built for the fifth Duke of Buccleuch, and is still owned by the Buccleuch Estate. The property features 11 ensuite bedrooms and several reception rooms.

Meanwhile, Middleton Castle is the second newly added estate that is now part of Storied Collection’s membership.

The castle, complete with its own moat, parapets and corner turrets, dates back to when it was first built in 1455 by Thomas Scales, the seventh Baron, and has been home to the Barclay family since the 1900s. The Grade I-listed Middleton Castle sports 15 bedrooms and is surrounded by acres of rolling farmland in Norfolk, only a short drive from the north Norfolk coastline and the Royal estate of Sandringham.

Situated on the southwest Dorset coastline, Mapperton was recently voted as the ‘Nation’s Finest Manor House‘, and is home to Viscount Hinchingbrooke, the son of the Earl and Countess of Sandwich, and his American-born wife, Julie Montagu. The Jacobean manor, which was featured as one of the locations for the 2019 movie ‘Rebecca‘ starring Lily James, houses nine bedrooms for guests overlooking gardens which feature an orangery, woodlands, fountains, statues, herbaceous borders and grottoes.

Storied Collection officially launched in the UK and Ireland a year ago, with the concept being forged by hospitality veterans Justin Hauge and Michael Goldin—two reputable names in the industry with a wealth of experience between them.
