The Twenty Two appoints managing director

UK: Luxury lifestyle hotel The Twenty Two, located in Mayfair, London, has appointed Michelle Walder as its managing director, effective 3 July 2023.

Walder will oversee the operations, guest experience and brand partnerships at the 31-bedroom hotel. She will also be responsible for an upcoming New York property, slated to open in 2024. It will include 77 rooms, a restaurant and private members club.

Previously, Walder spent six years with Andre Balazs Properties as well as Argentinian-based hotel group Faena and Ian Schrager’s EDITION Hotels in Miami and New York. In 2011 she joined Sydell Group and supported the development team with the launch of NoMad New York, The Ned, and NoMad London.

“I have always been drawn to inspirational leaders and companies who are catalysts for change and not afraid of challenging the norm,” said Walder. “The team at The Twenty Two have set the tone for something really special in Mayfair, and I am excited to be a part of the next chapter.”

The Twenty Two opened in April 2022 and is set within an Edwardian Manor at Grosvenor Square. It offers a standalone mews house as well as a restaurant and private members club.

The concept has been created by Navid Mirtorabi and Jamie Reuben with interior design led by Natalie Miyar. The kitchen is overseen by executive chef Alan Christie.
